boom-bap asked: While I don't recall it word-for-word, I once heard a quote that suggested the wisdom of a person who could simultaneously contemplate two contradictory ideas without necessarily agreeing with either of them. I think, to a degree, this speaks to your characters/writing. I think it's important that we investigate characters and ideas even if (/especially if) we find them disagreeable at first glance. Claims of elitism/etc aside, what person truly agrees with every thought that crosses their mind?

Thanks, and you’re right, I’m interested in writing about people I don’t always agree with. It’s much more interesting for me, and it allows me to consider somebody else’s point of view. The main characters in “Yeah, YOU’RE Cool” have definitely said and done things that are similar to what I’ve said or done, but they’ve also behaved in ways I find deplorable. As a writer, I’m more interested in challenging myself and my beliefs, than I am in writing a thinly disguised memoir.
