I do like his work, thanks for the compliment. Although, I think Tomine would only have one character that’s potentially “unlikeable” whereas I’m interested in writing stories where all of the characters are potentially “unlikeable.” As far as people who create comics/graphic novels  go, I like Aaron McGruder, Kyle Baker, Adrian Tomine, Daniel Clowes and Gabrielle Bell. But, honestly, my biggest inspirations come from my own life and films/TV shows and sometimes biographies.

  1. hettie said: i quite like the idea of having “potentially unlikeable characters”. like in real life even people we like do things sometimes or make choices that we don’t like. we are all unlikeable to some extent… i think, so it’d make the characters more real.
