Anonymous asked: I stumbled on your blog and I like your material. I laughed out loud to a lot of things, because I actually know guys and girls like your characters. But what I don't quite understand is the misinterpretation on people's part about what the characters or writings are supposed to represent or mean. So my question to you is, are you a damn sadomasochist?

Thanks, I appreciate the compliments. No, I’m hardly a sadomasochist haha. As far as people’s misinterpretation of my work, I actually do understand it somewhat. We live in a society where people are much more interested in the artist’s personal life, and their supposed autobiographical connection to their work - as opposed to the actual artistic process. So, people think that each character, or image is an entrance from my personal diary, as opposed to an observation with my own personal view. At the end of the day, I’m using Social Skills as an outlet for personal expression, but I’m expressing ideas about people and things I both agree and disagree with. However, the fact that people ARE reacting so strongly(whether positively of negatively) means that I’m doing something right. Which is why I answer anonymous questions, no matter what. I want the unfiltered truth, but I don’t get personally offended by it.

PS

Although I don’t mind answering personal questions/attacks I’m much more impressed by people who have questions about the artistic process.
